Five (Sugar Free) Sweet Treats Better Than an Ice Cream Sundae

When you're craving a sugar-laden ice cream sundae, try these sugar free treats instead. Living in Las Vegas means surviving some seriously blazing summers, and nothing sounds better on a 110-degree day than a massive, sticky, sugar-loaded ice cream sundae. But if you are committed to a low-carb or sugar-free lifestyle, melting ice cream does not have to be the only way to beat the heat. Going sugar-free is all about finding new favorites rather than giving up the foods you love.

Here are five treats that are completely delicious, totally satisfying, and honestly better than a standard sundae.

1. The "Tiger's Blood" Slushie

Sometimes you just need an icy, blended drink to cool down. I am a huge fan of hitting the local Dutch Bros drive-thru for an iced sugar-free Rebel mixed with sugar-free Tiger's Blood syrup (made extra sweet, of course). When I am at home and the craving hits, I make my own version. Just blend crushed ice, a splash of sparkling water, and your favorite sugar-free watermelon, coconut and strawberry syrups. It hits the spot every single time.

2. Whipped Sugar-Free Chocolate Mousse

When you want something ridiculously rich, skip the ice cream aisle. Grab some heavy whipping cream, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a powdered sugar-free sweetener. Whip it all together with a hand mixer until it gets thick and fluffy. It takes about three minutes to make, and the texture is out of this world. Top it with some sugar-free chocolate chips if you need a little crunch.

3. Chocolate Peanut Butter Freeze Bark

Melt down your favorite sugar-free chocolate chips with a tiny bit of coconut oil. Pour the melted chocolate onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and then swirl in some natural, unsweetened peanut butter. Freeze it for an hour, break it into chunks, and keep it stored in a cold container. It is the perfect grab-and-go bite when you want something sweet after a family BBQ.

4. No-Bake Cheesecake Jars

If you miss the decadent layers of a sundae, this is your winner. Mix softened cream cheese, a splash of vanilla extract, and a little stevia or erythritol. For the crust at the bottom of the jar, mix almond flour with a pinch of cinnamon and some melted butter. Layer the crust, the cream cheese mixture, and maybe some sugar-free caramel syrup on top.

5. Frozen Berries with Heavy Cream

It sounds almost too simple to be on this list, but trust me on this one. Take a handful of frozen raspberries or blueberries and pour a couple of tablespoons of liquid heavy whipping cream right over the top. Add a tiny splash of sugar-free vanilla syrup. The freezing cold berries instantly chill the cream into a soft-serve texture. It is a fantastic, fresh dessert that takes exactly ten seconds to make.

Have you tried any of these yet? Let me know what your go-to sugar-free dessert is!

Best, Keith
